Educating young people about love and friendship through the storytelling

Stories have always provided us with a way to tell others about humanity’s greatest values—love and friendship above all.

Description

Stories have always provided us with a way to tell others about humanity’s greatest values—love and friendship above all. With the passage of time, the way we tell stories has also changed. Today, there are numerous tools through which we can tell a story. In addition to the “classic book,” there are films and TV series. A survey administered by Familyandmedia in 2018 selected certain works that youth seem to enjoy, including books, films, and TV series. On September 24 and 25, 2021, at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross, a group of young people, between 20 and 30 years old, met with Familyandmedia researchers and representatives to discuss the content of these works and to analyze how they convey fundamental themes in life, such as love and friendship. It was an important chance to exchange not only ideas, but also emotional experiences.
